Another SKS info godsend

Yours is another extremely informative write-up (also Curtton's article) on the SKS. The info you guys provide is invaluable!!! As I continue to re-activate my gun-powder related activities, joining CGN is one of the best things I've done.
BTW, the first link to the "Origin of the SKS" seems to be on the blink. Is Simonov.net inactive?
Just wanted to let you know that your efforts are resulting in a high learning curve of the SKS for those unfamiliar (like me).

I purchased two refurbs and have disassembled them and just started cleaning I noticed a little binding in the firing pin and flushed it clear with some cleaning solution and then oiled it up. It seems to move fine but seems a little sticky... is this normal or should I disassemble the bolt and clean the firing pin thoroughly.

I think it should be okay but I'm just trying to avoid any slam fire issues.

from what I have read, and my personal experience, you should keep everything in the bolt area dry as a bone. I'd clean your oil off as it will attract dirt etc. and could gum things up. I'd also be very tempted to pull the whole thing apart and give it a real good cleaning so you know what you're starting with.

I'm curious about this too...

I think that would only be legal in the US. Unless the 10 round mag was originally made for some kind of pistol and just happens to fit the SKS. Kind of like the not-so-evil LAR-15 10 round mags fitting the AR-15 versus the very evil 10 round AR-15 mags.

And besides... the three ribs in the magazine make it look extremely evil... do we even need to ask? *mild sarcasm*

My understanding is the 10 rd mag in the sks is prohibited in Canada and legally has to be pinned to 5 rds or needs to be swapped to a 5 rd mag. I bought my Norc sks 15 yrs ago with a 10 rd mag. Shortly after that they made the 10 rd. mag prohibited on the sks. Has this changed recently?

No. 5rd only for center fire
 
I got my Russian SKS (1951) just before Christmas and probably won't get a chance to actually use it until spring. I was curious whether it is necessary to buy the sight adjustment tool or whether they are relatively straight shooters out of the milsurp crate?
