SKS: Bayonet Technique

A bayonet on a carbine or any battle rifle is there for decoration. And parades.
A gangbanger wouldn't be caught dead with an SKS. Too small. Maybe one of the chrome plated ones.

SNIFF SNIFF, I smell something. Guess ya never seen a Mexican with a AK?

the sks was not designed to have the bayonet deployed in that fashion was it? if so... well i'll be damned!@ :p

l wouldn't want to hurt the barrel by doing something it wasn't designed to do. Thanks for posting the vid of it happening in action.

These guns are Russian made - for war. Bayonet is meant for quick application. Whether you flick it or just slam it up with a force of hand. Was not meant to be pussy-footed with or to pinch your fingers. That's why the crown brace has a tapered curve notched in it. So it can slip over and across the muzzle. If they intended the soldiers to pull on the spring and drop it up and over the muzzle, that curved notch wouldn't exist.

Try it, it will make a man out of you.

now you mention it i did notice that tapered part on the bayonet ring. So it seems this could even be an intentional method to deploy the bayonet? TIL! :p

thx for the follow up!

I'm quite surprised that so many of you are quite surprised by this! I consider myself an SKS SuperNewb, but it seemed obvious to me right out of the box...

If you think that's neat, wait till you see what happens when you stick your finger into that little trap door in the butt stock!! ;-) JK

Soviet army manual for SKS claims that bayonet tension spring creates shock-absorption that negates difference between folded or deployed bayonet during shooting.

Have anyone done any testing?

Do you ever type something out, decide it is profoundly stupid and then delete it? Because I am thinking not.

As for SKS and gang bangers, very popular, hence why you see them often seized and paraded around for the press almost 100% of the time with the bayo extended.

And they just sentenced the shooter of Amy Sands here in Calgary to a whopping 8 years for opening fire with an SKS on a garage full of low life's and he only hit the girl who stopped by to say hi.
