The rifle is designed to be fired with the bayonet on and extended. Soviet infantry back in the day had their bayonets extended all the time except the armoury. Other Soviet troops did not but they also did not get much shooting time as they are technical types. A new stock will change the shooting characteristics, bore sight it, then shoot it in to zero. Honestly, IMO and experience, if you are ditching the stock, ditch the bayonet, we have had very little opportunity in modern warfare to use a bayonet (other than opening the odd can) despite alot of training on them.
I would actually like to make a handle that attaches to the bayonet assembly the exact way it attaches to the lug under the barrel. Spring and all. The handle would also have threaded tipped rod extending from the hand guard which would insert through the muzzle brace on the bayonet and tightened down with a magazine tube-like cap.
