Hi. I have an SKS with an ATI stock. I would like to put a bipod on it and use the available bayonet lug. Does anybody have a suggestion on what to buy and where to get it? Looking at Amazon, ebay, site sponsors.

My brother bought a nice one from Grouse River Outfitters in Kelowna. This is a detachable one. Yu do not need to remove the bayonet. It is spring loaded and snaps over the barrel.

Has anyone tested how a bipod mounted where the bayonet goes could effect accuracy? I was thinking the pressure from the bipod on that point would change barrel harmonics, and cause it to shoot differently depending on if you are using the bipod or just shooting off-shoulder? This is the downside to any barrel-clamp-mounted bipod too isn't it?

Or is the SKS not accurate enough for this to make a noticeable difference, especially at the ranges one would typically use an SKS?

Personally I'd go with a vertical grip/bipod combo (fab defense makes a good one, the gen 2). Less "stuff" hanging off the end of your barrel the better, helps with weight too, plus you can get even better control with recoil when stand up shooting and at the press of a button deploy the bipod and you've got an adjustable and rotating one that works great for pivoting side to side shooting prone. Just my $.02, had good experience with one on my vz58.
