so i got 2 things to ask about
1) im wanting to mod my sks and take off the bolt cover and replace it with something that can have a scope mount but im not sure if one size fits all? or if u have the rite model ur good or if all of them are different?

2) i just cant get the bayonet off any suggestions? the screw kind of seems like its been tap in on the other side so im not sure if its like been melted into place or not

also sorry im aware theres like a library of info on this in "red baby eaters"
but i couldnt locate the info
thanks any incite would be greatly appreciated!

one size fits all?
Yes and no. There are screw adjustable mounts with a receiver adapter which are one size fits all. Others are file to fit, if you don't need a mallet to put it on, it will be too loose.
You may have to remove a little metal from the screw where the hit it with a punch, or brute force with the right screwdriver.

I picked up one of the Ncstar trimounts, and am regretting it. Its a 'file to fit', which I had to grind a fair bit, but Im able to get on now..... its going to require a lot more filing though, as the 'rails' that the bolt slides back on, are a lot thicker than the original russian cover...... I'd say close to a millimeter thicker, which is a lot to grind off for the entire length of the cover on two sides.

+1 the NCStar trimounts Marstar sell are a waste of money

This is what you need

As for question #2 (the bayonet screw) I just put a regular screwdriver bit (#2 flat) in a battery operated drill and just backed the screw out.

I did have to go back and forth a few times before the screw would come out, though. Be careful of the handle and spring. When you take the screw out, the handle and spring on the bayonet will come loose and fly off into some dark corner.

kk ill have to give that a try cuz where i am now im just turnin it into a rivet

not to nag but rule #1 use the right for the right job . the only reason for turning any screw into a rivot is 1 to small of a screw driver and 2 to big of a screw driver ... the bayonet screw has been punched on the threaded side so it wont come loose, with the right tool and some muscle it wiil come loose but it will be stiff all the way out . :D
