I bought a Russian refurb as a "shooter" and put a little scope on it. Today I shot it for the first time. Rifle shoots very well. In fact, I will make some handloads to see if rifle is better than the ammo I have been using.

Some of the cases eject and hit the scope. The scope is mounted quite far back so I can still stick a stripper clip into the mag. Some cases must be ejected up and a bit to the rear.

As a short term fix, I will wrap a thick elastic around the scope bell to make a rubber bumper. Is there a better fix?

i use the same shell deflectors on my SKS and it works great . i also use it on my CZ858 but requires filing .

Does the shell deflectore prevent the use of a stripper clip to load? one of the evenets I shoot is rapid fire - 10 shots in 45 seconds. The fastest reload is the stripper clip.

it doesnt have to , just flip the deflector along with the rear sight up for stripper loading , might waste a second but will save the scope from being jarred.

another note , you should bend the deflector to creat an angle so less likely a casing bouncing back in. see my FAQ on scopes and mounts vz58/cz858.
