I have a leapers tri rail reciever mount on order. Im seeking opions on whether i should get a sks buffer pad for the inside. Will this buffer pad help any scope i mount maintain zero or is just a waste of 10$? Yea or Nay? Thanks in advance for any responces.:runaway:

This recoil buffer does nothing for scopes but it improve's repeatability due to the fact the bolt spring always stay's in the same spot when in the rear bolt cover.

This one is to prolong the life of cheap optic's for the SKS when using a rear bolt cover scope mount.

If you are not using a rear scope mount cover why even bother. Just get a scout mount and a pistol scope.

The X shaped ones from blackjack buffers work best but I've yet to find someone who will ship them here (including blackjack)

I don't think he has the blackjack buffers ones just the other rounded ones. I think I've already asked the seller of the ebay add above and he does not ship to canada. I asked all the ones I've found on ebay who repeadedly sell those.

Do recoil buffers actually extend the life of the Sks? Do SKSes (sp?) really wear out that fast? I was looking a getting one, but not if its going to crap out after a 1000 rounds.

crap out after 1000 rounds? hardly, maybe 100,000 rounds. These things are built to last and love abuse. One inch broke off my gas piston spring and still works 100%

They'll be fine, the reason gun owners get these is they aren't a millitary power with endless supplies of parts. So we like to protect what we own. The sks will probably fire without a reciever cover and just a twig holding the spring in place. (not advised)

The buffer isn't made to make the riffle last longer its to reduce muzzle climb and recoil...
