SKS Collapsible Stock

Rollingrock, I did call them today and as Scarecrow said correctly they want a money order. They got burned to many times on the credit cards from Canada.
I guess we are not all as good as we like to think.

Scarecrow I stand corrected.

Oh well, I'm wrong then. But I did try to buy something else from then 2 yrs ago and was told they wouldn't sell to Canada any more. That time not only Tapco but a lot other companies wouldn't do business with Canadians. But it's a good thing that they're back.

Roger:

Good to see you guys give us more options. Just a quick question: what type of material is that collapsable stock made of?

AR stocks are for AR's.

I'll have to agree with you here; the M4 stock is not something I get terribly excited about, not sure why everyone wants to stick one on every second gun and their dog. In my mind, why the heck would you want a stock with a buffer tube when you don't need the buffer setup? Yes, adjustable LOP I know, but how often do you find yourself switching between shooting in your body armour and not? :p One (logical) exception I can see is 14" shotguns, these give them the OAL they need to stay legal but still let them get a little more compact for bush carry etc. But firing any magnum loads from a shotgun with an M4 stock? *Shudder*...

would this stock work with an sks-d? it says slight modification to the mag well, anyone know what this would involve?

Taking a dremel or some sandpaper and enlarging the sides (walls) where the non D mag rests to a width that accommodates the D model, real easy to do.

But I would do one more and fill in the useless gap in the plastic (the cut out for the non-d swing out mag)....

my 2 cents...

here is a crappy pic of a norc sks (non-d)

and here is a pic of what a D model bottom looks like...

hope the pics help my explanation...

I agree with Ardent. Unless you are toting body armor the M4 stock is not needed, also you are only shortening the rifle by 3-4". Now if they made a H&K colapsable or folder then I'd be excited.

useless maybe....but half the stuff you end up buying for an sks has no real use, in its original stock condition it is probably the most efficent. you buy such things for the cool factor :)

Thanks so much Cope's. I have had a hard time in the past to get sks stuff shipped up here.

We all appreciate it.

I checked on this item at the shot show as it seemed very well made and was told it was exclusive to TAPCO . We are trying to find the original source but have not yet been successful...will keep trying.

I got one, but not knowing about copes cost me a couple of bucks. I got mine from another website. sksman.com. They took canadian credit card $s and sent me their american stock with no problems.

It went on in a snap. I previously had two SKSs, one with the dragunov stock and the other with the folding stock. This one is nicer than both (IMHO, for my needs and whatnot) and went on without a problem. The only hard part was changing out the upper handguard, as usual. I dont think an easy way to do that has been invented yet.

The "SAW" Grip is almost the same as the Canadian C9s grip, but the hinged lid at the bottom of the grip is made of plastic and says "Tapco" on it. It also has a mold line around the center of the grip that needs to be removed. After that mold line is gone it feels great in your hands and you have alot of positions to set the butt at. I've got meaty hands and short arms so I get a nice fit with this grip and butt.

This stock has a bayonette cut, but the cut is about a quarter of an inch too narrow and about 2 inches to short to accomodate the chinese triangular bayonette. It fits the blade bayonette fine though. Or if you were inclined and carefull in your laying up you could router the cut out a bit.

With the fully assembled rifle in the stock you cannot remove the trigger guard from the stock. You can still reach in and pop the button to free the reciever, but the trigger mech is held captive by the pistol grip. (There is a cut away section that allows you to reach the button). At first I thought this was a bit of a pain, but you can still get at everything just fine. If you want to, you will still have no trouble cleaning the trigger mech. Youi just remove the reciever and clean from the top.

I have seen another acoutriment for this stock advertised on the net. Its a rail system. Anybody know anything about these yet? I am curious as to how sturdy they are and also about the vertical pistol grips you can get at the site.

They store batteries, and the have a pressure switch, but how does your flashlight hook up to them?

The next question..... How readily do other C8 style butts fit on this stock?

I shall have to find out.

This stock really opens this rifle up to a whole new level of "Mall Ninja-ing"
So I am off to work!
