SKS D fleecing

By Saturday I'll be a proud owner of a SKS, Hope to join the club.

Also I'm sure that was the First time the words "Proud", "Owner", and "SKS" were ever used in the same sentence.

cheers.

I'd wager a sizeable chunk of money that I can reload and fire my Yugo via stripper clips as fast/faster the an SKS-D, the actual loading may be a little longer but the ability to shoot quickly right after would even it out, id bet

For sure. And the mag insertion into a D is tricky and you can lock the mag in the wrong position too. It is next to impossible to insert a short mag, so tape two shorties end to end for leverage. For what is worth, I see many VZ-58 owners use stripper clips too.

I'm sure there is little doubt you could, but most people like the D as some view it as an AK "look" on the cheap (if you squint really hard!)... although, personally I must admit that the built in bayonette of the regular one has it's charm. :)

I had a D model years ago. The thing patterned rather than grouped. About 6" at 100 if I remember correctly. I got rid of it. The fixed mag versions seem to be generally more accurate.

Auggie D.

Is it just me or have prices on here for SKS D's gone retardo'd? I remember less than a year ago whjen one could be had at SIR for somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 bucks(maybe 180?), and now, whenever I check the forums, there is someone trying to flog thiers for 300+! I guess its buyer beware, but wow, for the extra 50 or 75 bucks i think id rather have a VZ58...

what do you think?

Seems like a bargain now.

I want to post a reply to this thread, not so much for the people reading it now, but for the people who read this thread when it resurrects again in the year 2035.

For the record, I think an average SKS is worth over $60,000 in United North American Ecurrency

I called it first, for the record
