I think its a great kit for the price, im still not sure if I should buy this or a standard Sks but I've read a few things there and there about ki11ercane

It is a russian sks, in a tapco stock, NOT an SKS-D. The guy had something like 15 negative trader ratings in the last year, before he was banned from the site, but hey if you want to roll the dice, giver.

I would suggest it's not a "junky gun" as you say. It is less expensive then a modern AR - but not "junky" - it fills a niche....I have one....fun and inexpensive to shoot!

Nothing wrong with the SKS. Well worth it actually.

SKS is a great rifle that's NON-restricted (unlike the M4) and easy and fun to shoot.

You've obviously never owned a Russian SKS. Dollar for dollar it's the best bang for the buck these days. They're cheap, ammo is cheap (for center fire) and there's lots of accessories available if that's the way you want to go. Sure there's more expensive stuff available but that doesn't mean the SKS isn't a quality piece. The Russian built ones can take amazing abuse and are very well machined & finished. The only junk SKS I've owned was a Norinco. Don't knock the SKS till you've tried it!

Not one to promote or push a retailer...But this thread could use one actual reference, not speculation.

I just bought a russian '54 SKS from MGS. Service was awesome, gun performs flawlessly and was in great shape, and price was right.


Just my experiance with them, take it as you will

Odd... I happened to get an SKS from moregunssupply.com and everything went smoothly. $450, shipping and tax included for a parkerized 1952 SKS and 1200 rounds. Not a bad deal?

I can tell you first hand that Ryan at SFRC is the guy to deal with. Great prices, great service...and if you have any issues or problems, he goes out of his way to make it right. He also sells some aftermarket stocks...call him and see what he has to offer.

If you order from More Gun Supply make sure you request to have a box for shipping.

The default shipping method is wrapping the gun in a plastic garbage bag and a little tape to seal it up.

What ever happened to that thread anyways? It was one of the most shocking things I have seen here that is for sure.
