SKS-D mag question

I recently bought a (pinned) 10 rnd AK47/SKS-D magazine from someone here on the EE. When it arrived I saw that it was smaller than my 5 rnd mags (in length, width and height) and a completely different design.

The seller says that I am just inexperienced and just don't know how/am unwilling to modify mags to fit and my SKS-D must be a strange model as it fits his perfectly.

The Norinco 5 rnd AK47/SKS-D mags fit my gun with no mods or problems and have a totally different design (tabs and indents in totally different places, not AT ALL the same) than this "10 round" mag.

My question is, would a 10 round mag possibly be smaller than a 5 round mag?

I am told he sometimes has taken 4 hours to modify a mag to fit and I am just not willing to modify, but I don't see how I can completely redesign/move tabs and indents and add and subtract some and then somehow make it BIGGER all over.

I have no experience modifying things it's true, but I don't believe it is an AK47 10 rnd mag and just want to know if I am mistaken as he says and a 10 rnd mag really could be smaller than a 5 rnd mag?
 
You're right; he's wrong. An AKS magazine is identical to an SKS-D magazine and does not require fitting. Either you don't have an SKS-D or he's sold you something other than what he advertised.

Either way, return it and get your money back.
 
First of all, you should post pics, so we can help ou easier. Second, as far as I know, all AK mags are almost identical(military ones), so I ave no clue what this guy is talking about mod-ing them for.
 
i have a "D" and it takes AK47 mags , no mod is needed.

you need to post pics of your new and old mags .
 
He won't do a return/refund. He thinks I am too stupid to know what I am talking about. Now he claims that Canada Post somehow shrank the 10 rnd mag in transit (to even smaller than a 5 rnd) so I MIGHT get a refund someday once he scams them for insurance.

My SKS-D is from Lever Arms in Vancouver, bought new a few years ago, Norinco brand (only brand that makes them) and has a serial number starting with 02648**. I just bought some 5 rnd Norinco mags from another member here and they fit just fine.

I will borrow a camera in the next few days and post pics, hopefully tomorrow.

Edited to add: I took pictures with my cell phone but I don't know how to upload them onto my computer.

That person seems like a total fck-tard. I have an SKS-D, and the only "fitting" it's mags needed was filling around the tang that snaps into the catch, and re-pinning (only fits 4, atm).

I'd leave negative trader ratings... To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if you got a CZ mag.

Now he is claiming that I am lying and I switched the mag in the package if it isn't the right one, because he sealed the right one in the package and no way was it the wrong mag and THAT IS THAT he says. So it's either me switching it to trick him, or Canada Post shrunk it and moved tabs and indents etc around.

Weird thing is he has 20 trader ratings, all excellent.

I think that if he really believes the mag is the proper one then he would take it back and resell it though. I really thought it was just an honest mistake and he would say "whups musta sent the wrong mag, return it and I'll send the right one." I guess I am naive. It just seems unreal to me that someone would bother to do a scam for a crummy $25. LOL To me that is just pitiful!

I can't wait to be able to post pictures of it. I don't care about the $25 + $10 for shipping I paid for it as I am going to buy a digital camera within the next two days to take the pics, so it's not like I am hurting for the money!! It's the principle of the thing.


Well, if it is identifiable as to what type of gun it will fit into from the pics I will be posting, I would be happy to send it to someone who can use it, for just the exact cost of shipping.

I had a fellow send me a 5.45 mag for an AKS instead of a 7.62 mag for my SKS-D once - though he exchanged it right away. The fittings were not the same, and also it fit 5.56 ammo well, and wouldnt load 7.62 ammo... so that might be the case. Pics would be best.

thats probably what happened cos CZ mag and AK are completely different , CZ mags are light and AK mags are heavy .
 
Yay I figured out how to get the pics from my cell phone onto my computer.

The "10 round AK47/SKS-D" mag he INSISTS he sent me is the middle one. The two mags on the outside are Norinco 5 round mags that fit my SKS-D perfectly.

Your "bogus" mag is for a Czech Vz 52/57 (7.62x39). It's worth about $75.00 as they are very scarce and in demand here.

LOL too funny! And karma bites the seller in the ass! I love the irony. Anyway there is NO WAY someone could honestly mistake that for a 10 rnd mag. His loss.

Any honest person would have just taken a return instead of calling me a liar/cheat who switched mags, too lazy and unwilling to modify the mag, and too stupid to know what kind of rifle I have, among other ignorant things (therefore not his problem). Apparently this mag fits his SKS-D perfectly and held 10 rnds perfectly fine.

He also tried to blame it on the person who sold it to him (therefore not his problem) and then on Canada Post for damaging and modifying it! (Therefore not his problem! Too frickin funny!

Anyway, this made me get my brain off it's as* and learn more about my cell phone camera, which is totally awesome!
