Sks-d owner ?

I've had one as a truck gun for years, think I bought it in the 90s.
The lack of BHO is a pain, esp. with 5 rnd mag limits, but mine is uber reliable and actually quite accurate.
I put a cheap Tapco folder on it so I could more easily carry it around in the feed truck, and then at some point, for some reason, got rid of the original stock - Dumb.
AK mags work fine in it but are a pain in the ass with only 5 rnds in them - I just use shorties

Well that's the thing. one is no good without the other. you need bho to use guides for stripper clip loading. Without either one or other there is no use of having these features in a firearm. SKS-D is just a child of all sorts of production overruns where parts from what ever was available was used in its manufacture. Personally I'm grateful Chinese came up with it for us to have as just more capable option than just regular sks.
I would like to get my hands on Paratrooper SKS D. Any one even seen one in Canada?

Paratroopers are restricted. They exist but for the restricted reason not much market here.

The xz can have a bolt hold open device reinstalled. Would still need an AK mag designed to operate it. So not much point.

Very happy with mine - had it for years. The steel mags work great. Pmags are a bit of a struggle to seat properly in the magwell of my rifle, but do work.

I’ve had 3 over the years awesome little rifles and a lot of fun. Only issue I ever had with one was gas piston snapping due to lack of maintenance. Very corrosive ammo.

i'd a collection of 4 Ds, bought them at avg of $250 , sold them avg of $450. thought i was doing good till i saw them reach $700.
