Hi there,

I have a sks-d I bought a few years ago. I've shot it only a couple times, seeing how I just purchased a CZ, I don't think I'll be using it much more. So I'm thinking of selling it.

What's the value of these things now?

The previous owner took off the front and rear sights (beats me as to why). So I installed a scout scope mount with a red dot sight. I also have a standard stock and a pistol grip one.

The bore, gas chamber/piston are all in very good shape.

all together i put in about $450 including the rifle. If it's not worth even close that I'll probably just hold on to it, it is still pretty fun to shoot.

There's a couple in the EE right now. asking $500-600 i think. But they come with scopes, extra mags and some ammo etc... also, I think they've been for sale for more than a month. If I were to guess I'd think a realistic asking price would be around $400 if you actually wanted it to sell.

What he said... I sold mine a couple of years ago with a folding stock and 4 30/5 mags for $400ish. Anyone asking much more than that is being a bit unrealistic, IMHO, with the Vz's being readily available...
 
whenever one has a question like this this is what I tell them,

1. go to correct EE section

2. search the type of firearm you are selling

3. see prices and price accordingly to what you have and your need to sell.

4. list.
 
I actually couldn't find any sks-ds in the EE just then, only dressed up SKS's

I wasn't sure if Ds, because limited in quality and only designated for the civilian market, held value differently than the SKS. But I guess they don't.

$400 sounds fair to me too

I think the missing sights are a problem. The scout mount and red dot may compensate somewhat but the missing front sight makes it look strange. Additional magazines add somewhat value but only if you have 10 or 20 rounders. I think $400 is too high but that depends on the red dot you have on it. A cheap one has 0 value.
 
Yeah I realize that too. And basically i'm thinking I might as well just hold on to it.

It is fun to shoot, pretty accurate for a sks, just so damn heavy. I might just go back to the original stock.
 
SKS rifles seem pretty stale selling in the ee, I've seen a few btt of the sks-d rifles asking near vz58 prices.
Right now there is an sks-d for $500 with 3(?) magazines.
Looks like a nice clean example and it hasn't moved in 3 weeks or so.
 
Mine was missing its front sight as well.Got a hold of Marstar and bought a Yugo SKS front sight. Works great and looks kinda funky with the grenade launcher sight on it as well

That's a good tip!

How do you install a new front sight? go to a gunsmith and have them put it on?
 
Did it myself. Measured the inside diameter of the sight and the exterior of the barrel. Put the sight in the oven at a low temp to expand the bore. Then mounted it on the barrel. It wasn't that tight of a fit so it slid together pretty good. That was a few years ago but there should still be pics of it here some where.
