I guess I'll be hanging onto it for awhile......I have never seen one like this before...The reciever is a highly polished blue and the whole gun seems to be fit like no other Nork product I have seen

The clincher is if it's got a blade bayonet to go with it...

As far as I know, the "D" model came with no bayonet....I have never seen a "D" model stock with a cut out for a bayonet.....

Can you link to a source that would indicate different than what I know ?

You just don't remember back far enough. I have one the came from Caina company in ottawa back in the day. these had a high quality fit and finish came with 3 30rd mags and bayonet(spike) oil bottle sling and a five rd hunting mag and cleaning kit. then when the US banned chinese products the quality of sks rifles reflected the buying power of the canadian dollar. We could no longer get what was being built for the US as there was no longer any us orders.
The bayonet also is a quick detach not rivited or screwed on like most when you open it to fold it out, if you keep pulling it open it will open far enough there is a slot for it to slide off of the pin.
here is a web site with a pic of the original sks-d

What you have there is the final production run of SKS-D rifles made in 2004. No functional bayonet lug and nicely blued with excellent fit and finish. PD Enterprises was selling them for 199.00 3 years ago. I had mine for a year before the novelty wore off of fighting to try and get the mags in.
