Can anyone tell me where I can obtain an SKS-D? I have been searching the forums, and they don't seem to come up all that often. Or when they do, they are gone in no time. Does anyone know of any dealers that carry the D?

Any advice would be appreciated.

It'll be pretty hard to find a new one but they go for $350-450 on the EE. They are really quite fun to shoot but finding them is a little difficult.

They do come up from time to time in the EE. I think there's one in there right now. As suprathepeg said though, they go for $400 easily, and usually sell fast.

If you're dead-set on a detachable mag SKS, why not buy a regular SKS and get a couple 5-round duckbills? I've got 2 myself, and after matching the feed lips to my bolt with a small ball-peen hammer (aka; SKS maintenance tool), they feed just fine. You just have to remember to hold the bolt back when you're removing or attaching them, because the little nub on the plastic mag follower won't activate the hold-open latch.

i was leverarms today and saw the sks-d that CAMBO spoke of, it looked really nice and i thought of buying it, but for $399 the thought lasted for only a minute, i ended up buying a regular sks for $149 , that was what i originally went in for.

I had picked up a couple of -D models two years ago when they were 199 NIB. I ended up selling them as the surplus regular SKS is much easier to load.

Agree with DAR. I found the D a pain in the butt to load. I sold mine for $250 (!) on EE. Next time I get a SKS, it'll be either the standard model or the fancier Yugo version.
