The real problem with dry firing rimfires isn't the threat of the firing pin breaking, it's peening the chamber. A more massive pin like the S&B you've posted would seem MORE likely to cause this problem, not less.
Apparently some rimfire firearms (such as the 10/22 and expensive biathalon rifles like Anschutz) are designed in such a way that the firing pin will not actually reach the chamber face when dry firing. In this case, it would seem to be perfectly okay to dry fire them. Apparently Anschutz actually recommends it in the manual for practice.
