so a friends sks out the other day, i have all stripper clips set to 5 rounds, they dont feed properly almost as if the bullets are to straight and not at an angle. the top bullet doesn't slide into the barrel. am i not feeding them into the magazine properly or is there something wrong with my sks?

If you have a 5 round pinned at the bottom of the mag platform make sure it is not bent outward and jamming on the mag sidewall.

Some of the methods of pinning the mag also bugger it up. I recently saw one with a pin on the follower. It was installed so that the follower could not swivel as it should, so it would never feed correctly. There are several issues that could cause bad feeding. That's just one.

That would be my guess as well.....the pin on the follower is often the culpit......

^^^^ This

Take a picture of your mag follower and I am guessing the pin is attached to the pivot point. It creates a ledge that doesn't allow the follower tab to rotate up to orient the rounds in a nose up stance.

Talked about here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1076151-Not-impressed-with-my-Izhevsk-SKS

Just to cover everything is covered. Are you making sure that your stripper clip isis fully in the guide correctly?

I had this problem with an SKS recently.
Just pushed it back into position and problem solved.
I'm thinking of a way to prevent it from moving again...

they don't chamber... i think its because the pin is stuck to the mag rod that pushes the bullets up and not the actual magazine bottom?
