SKS field stripping 101,corrosive ammo cleaning, lubrication *updated*

Found this on the ol' Youtube today. It's old and a bit cheesy but all you could ever want to know about the SKS including the basics of a trigger job.

Great thread. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on the SKS but you enlightened me on a bunch of things. The cleaning kit bore guide and handle thing in particular. I always looked at it and wondered what's with the holes and the prongs and now I know.

Better late than never, I've only been shooting steel cased non corrosive ammo, but now that it's scarce I'm probably going to be making the switch to corrosive. Good to know how to properly clean it. Thanks!

That's why I made a pdf of the entire thread - see link in post 1

Paul thank you for taking the time to put this together. Because of this, when I got my SKS a couple of months back, I was able to become very proficient very fast at disassembly thanks to the copious detail and photos in your guide (this has helped me tremendously at times when I was evaluating other SKSes to buy and was able to field strip components as part of the pre-sale examination) - I have since bought several more SKSes. Your guide is better than anything else I have seen on this topic and is a must have for any SKS owner, whether new or seasoned. I have since printed a copy and stored it in my files for quick reference.

I don't drink whatsoever, but would be happy to buy you a beer anytime you are in the Toronto area as a token of my appreciation for this fantastic step-by-step guide.

I didn't write the guide, all that credit goes to svt1940

I was able to capture the photos before photobucket crapped out and transfer the thread into the pdf file which Code of Arms TV is so graciously hosting and svt1940 linked to in the original post.

Same for his very very useful guide to stripping and cleaning after using corrosive ammo, found here

Looks like Mozzer who hosted the pdf file for this has not updated his site and the link is now broken

Any takers to host a 4MBish pdf so this extremely useful guide can be disseminated?
