I made sure my firing pin was fully oiled when reassembling my sks for the first time today, thinking it would help keep the firing pin from sticking and causing slam fires.
But i just read that I should not have oiled it...

Should it be bone dry? Just a film to keep rust off? Or lather it up in oil?

Also, I left the gas tube and pistol dry as the video said to not put any oil in them, this correct?

Anything else im missing?

If you are in a dirty environment, dirt will stick to the oil. So in the desert, a heavy oiling will jam the gun. Generally.
So oil + grit = possible jammed thing, such as a firing pin.

There's enough slop in the firing pin/channel that you don't need to lube it. It's not under a huge amount of side-loading stress, and it needs to free float.

Dry as a bone, no lube (even dry lube) is the way to go.

Same for your gas tube and piston. They're designed to run dry; lube just means stuck powder residue/gumming.
