SKS firing pin retainer

Hi there.

I was giving my Norinco SKS a thorough cleaning today and being my clutzy self I dropped the firing retaining pin retainer down my basement sink which doesn't have a trap. :( Does anyone know where to get one in Canada? Can't seem to find anything that's in stock, saw at Lever Arms there's a full bolt available so I may just go with that option but wanted to know if the little pin can be bought by itself.

and you failed to realize that almost 99% of stores inventory is not up to date on their websites.. he can call to confirm if they are available or not.. the first part is to find a supplier, which marstar is..

Mike Kubes will not ship to Canada but you can purchase online and enter an American friend's address and have him/her send it to you.

Purchase two, as per my invoice. Cheap and problem solved. Do not contact him directly and beg him to ship to Canada because he won't. Ship to a US friend only.

If your basement smells I would not be surprised. All sinks should have a trap. It is not just to get things that drop in there. It is to prevent harmful sewer gas from coming into the home. You are putting your health and your families health at risk not having one.

And if that's not reason enough, put a trap on it to prevent losing another precious gun part :D

Depending on what it looks like under the sink, it could be easy or difficult. Post a pic under there, maybe we can help.
I'm also willing to bet there is a trap somewhere under the basement floor pad. You would definitely know if the sewer was gassing into your basement. That, or you'd be dead or have blown up the house by now.

Not always, many times this has been caught where the homeowners were living in the house for a long time, even getting sick but they didn't know the cause. It is fairly easy to install one or to have a plumber do it. At the very least have a plumber in to see if he has an under floor trap, regardless this is not something to take lightly. People have gotten very sick and even died from this.
 
Wow this is certainly an eye opener! Condo life has spoiled me, not use to the maintenance requirements of a house frankly but I guess that's part of growing up. I'll ask my dad to take a look, he's good at general maintenance and does all of his own house work.

From a plumber who's been there before (for the next time):
strong magnet taped to the end of a piece of flexible wire or electrician's fish tape. Works like a charm as long as you don't run a bunch of water down after the part. A short fish tape reel will give you about 25' of small metallic part grabber. Just don't force it if it wants to jam or you'll have jackhammer related problems instead. :) Those little extendable magnetic pickup wands from Princess Auto are a lifesaver too.
