sks firing pin

Hundreds of rapid fire rounds at a time. Whatever oil. Outers, clp, wd40, whatever. I'm prob doin it wrong, but I have no idea how anyone has a malfunction with an sks

That's been my experience too - no matter how dirty the ammo. I'm probably doing it wrong as well.

Save your money. Keep the factory one. I read about slam fires before I even got my SKS and ordered the spring loaded firing pin and installed it as sonn as I got my SKS. Today the Murray's firing pin I have been using since day one, broke. My SKS has only seen about 750 rounds. I have always taken good care of my SKS and cleaned it ater every shoot. I didn't listen to others when they told me to keep the original, They are right, I was wrong.

I have shot a few thousand rounds thru my sks with a Murray's pin no problems still working well . Have installed a second one in one of my other guns about 700 rounds thru it now with out an issue.

As long the free floating firing pin is clean and rattle freely in the bolt, you wont have any problems,save the money for ammo. The ones who really want a spring loaded pin order from Murray in USA.

... or get a pre-195X russian SKS which come with a spring loaded firing pin.
 
I just disassembled the bolt for the first time....cleaned it well... had a bit of trouble getting the pin back in.... She rattles pretty freely however, when I push the back of the firing pin with some pressure it sticks in the firing position is this ok??? Otherwise it rattles freely...

Is this a show stopper scheduled to shoot tomorrow...
 
I had a Murrays pin and it broke...Sent an email to Murrays explaining what happened...They replied by stating that the older pins weren't tempered but the new ones are and they sent me a new kit free of charge...Good customer service from Murrays.
 
for my retaining pin, i used a drift punch the first time, now that it's clean i can use the pointy thing in the cleaning kit and my receiver cover as a hammer to get it out...

Akk, I just sent Dano a pm saying the same thing,should have read all the way down first :)
 
Murray's does have great cutomer service. Just as mentioned earlier, he is sending me a free replacement as well, but he said the pin I had was tempered one. He thinks popped primers was the cause.
