Anyone ever done this before? Looks it may be possible, judging by this photo. I think a flush mag would make for a much more ergonomic hold.

I can’t remember the forum members name but he posted a how to with pics, seemed pretty easy. Bit of dremel work is needed with a cutting disk and there’s a small tab you need to make/bend, def a diy job.

I've made 3, and have another 3 on the go. Very labour intensive.
At a hundred bucks, I make about 4 bucks an hour, after cost of materials.
The most bothersome part is welding a blob of metal onto the end, then slowly carving and fitting to get the right lip for proper function.
For that price, you gotta really want it for your immaculate Timbersmith or Walnut clothed princess.
Tapco trunk turds need not apply.

I have done it. It is easy with a proper cutting tool, hard part is deburring and matching the blue. As cut in the pic above it is still illegal at 6 rounds. Don't cut the limiting pin til you are finished the mag housing and then you can measure it exactly to 5 rounds, that was my mistake and I had to weld a new pin on.

Perhaps it is for some people. You see many guys with a normal hold, ahead of the mag. But, also theres plenty of guys who just cant shoot them like that.

There's a reason why you hold in front of the mag, and not below it, that has nothing to do with ergonomics. In the event of an out of battery detonation, the gases vent through the magwell. This is true of all guns. If your hand is below the magwell when this happens, it will very quickly not be.

Here's a vid of a Garand having an OOB. The only reason that woman got to keep her hand, is because she had proper hand placement.

Good point, that is true. But with the SKS having a forward mag placement almost all shooters will have their hand over the mag. Especially if you've extented the butt. And if you go ahead of the mag, your holding the bayonet

There are commercial "TRIPLE K - DETACHABLE SKS MAGAZINE" sold by Northern Republic Magazine. The five rounder is flush fit.

Picked up a 5 round flush magazine, and now seeing this I need to know where that stock came from (if its still in production 5 years later), looks great!

Already prefer the look of the flush 5 on the factory stock, but that blows it out of the park.
