SKS from Cabelas

Wanstalls in Maple Ridge BC.
I bought mine there and they brought 5 up for me to look at.
The guy behind the counter looked at the first one, "that ones crap, I wouldn't all you that"
He got two he liked and stripped them both, handed me one and said that's the one he would buy it doesn't look fired and the crown and bolt were immaculate. Told me how to best clean the Cosmo out of it and I went away a happy man.

A friend who has several SKS said mine was the best firing one he had tried, so I'm even happier now lol

I don't think I ever considered Canadian tire. I will have to have a look. However one can imagine the options might be limited. I will check it out.

I had looked at Wanstalls online. The thing about the is if I buy online I have to assume that I am getting a good one when I order.

I see some sites that have some different costs for different quality or an extra fee for "hand picked".

This has me sceptical seeing as how I could pay a bit more but in all reality just be getting the cheaper one anyway.

That kinda the reason I want to feel the gun before I buy.

However Eddmac, it sounds like you had a great experience, but your where able to go in personally.

I am not likely to be in Lower BC anytime soon.

Millions were made.

Probably hundreds available from EE and site sponsors.

All of mine were sight unseen before purchase.

No benefit to overthinking the purchase of a $200 shooter.

I can also recommend W.

Buy one (or three) and have fun.

this. I have to admit when looking for a surplus gun, I alsways look his posts up.

That's who I just picked up an un-refurb'd from; you might pay an extra 50 bucks or so for such , but you will get an SKS that is in about as good a shape as you could possibly expect; 10/10 chromed bore, beautiful condition stock and accessories as well.

I have never picked anything up from them but if I was I like the idea you can see pics of everything sold, condition and grade....I have been kicking around maybe a mosin and If I do i will be checking them out for sure.

I got my sks from Wholesale Sports and got lucky with an unissued non refurb, look for a gold tinted bayonet and all stamped matching parts alongside the usual lack of wear and tear which will indicate one of these untouched beauties! If you get an idea of what to look for you can find one yourself in store.
