As the title says i got one from them and there is weird grease like stuff on it. I know it's not cosmo because i got a Mosin and that thing was covered in cosmo. The grease smells like axle grease.

Anybody know how to take it off?

Thanks

Goo gone is safer on the wood , as its shallac ,

but any solvent can be used on the metal ,

as long as its disassembled from the wood and allowed to dry off after .

I found just some almost boiling water mixed with some regular dish soap worked well for me on all the metal parts. Fragrance is up to you. I prefer green apple.

I used Kerosene, I have lots of it around. Worked just fine if you don't count the headache it gave me.

As for the stock, I never did anything to it. Maybe sometime I'll steam it out or something.

Off topic but I've purchased 3 sks's from lebaron. 2 of the 3 were hardwood, and in prestine probably new condition. One is a 54 Tula, and the other is a 54 izzy. Both now sharing the throne as a couple of safe queens.

Thanks guys for the info. I used hot water to clean the grease off. The stock doesnt seem to be soaked in grease/cosmo because it just wiped off.

I got a 1953 Tula with a laminated stock. But there is one thing that is odd it didnt come with a tool kit. I looked in the buttsstock and the box but nothing. Is that normal?
