I thought it might be helpful to new owners of SKS's if we posted the height of our front sights, from base to tip, of our SKS rifles with factory front sights that are shooting correctly for elevation at 100 yards. With my rear sight set at 100 yards, and my front sight 7 mm high, my SKS is hitting one inch high at 100 yards, with Sellier & Bellot commercial non-corrosive soft points, 123 grain. With Ruag-imported US 125 grain commercial ammo, it's hitting dead on. Those of you that are grouping well at 100 yards, can you take a minute to measure the height of your stock Russian front sights and post it on here? I'm wondering if it varies from SKS to SKS, or if 7mm front sight height is the correct number?

RickR1100 tells me there are too many tiny differences between one rifle and another in the SKS, that in combination with individual shooting characteristics makes generalizing a front sight height impossible. You'll just have to take her out to the range, shoot 3 shot groups, and adjust your sights...
