ive had at mine with hammer and punch and it wont budge, but i havent had a chance to remove the front post yet.

you will need a sight tool they look like this

I tried doing the same thing dont waste your time at the range without this tool its almost imposible

dont need to remove the post ... you might wanna soak that sight in some sort of solution to get it loosen up.

welcome to da sks club .

here's a good question for you Curton have you ever own a sks that when fired for the first time it shot always to the right, over the years I think I have had over six sks and every one always shot to the right until I corrected the sight alignment. I think I keep getting the same cross eyed inspector at the sks plant.

im the last person to ask about shoots , too many eye operations . :(

but i did see a fella at the range shoot his russian for the very first time and he got 3" with 4 rds around the centre with czech ammo at 100, unfortunately the last was a flyer top and to the right .

so i can adjust the windage using a hammer and punch ?
the front post is off to the sight by about 3-4mm .. bad day on the assembly line maybe.

i was thinking of giving it a blast with some CRC n trying to loosen it up a bit.
if i can find the tool tho i will ge it.. hard stuff to come by down here in NZ land

pretty difficult to fine tune with a hammer and a punch . a fella here made a sight tool out a "C" clamp , he said he likes tinkering, it probably took him half a day to make it , LOL.

Hey Fenix, I had an insane day at the range the other day with my SKS, it even had a tech sight ts200 sight, fine front post, you think I could get the windage & elevation on with the M43 ammo no sir, :D :ninja: it was quite an experience, for some reason it seemed to shoot 'truer' with the 2 boxes of Privi Partisan 123 grain soft points I had, maybe it's something to do with the jackets - but I suspect the horrible let off has something to do with it, I am left handed so I guess the hard trigger pull is forcing my shots right. weird hunh? - I got good trigger control normally, I shot just fine with my .308 the same day.

you can make a "poor man's" adjustment tool with a small C-clamp,duct tape and a socket
(1/2" or so).you might have to dremel the C-clamp pusher(plunger) to get it to fit.
forget about the hammer and punch--that thing is press fit in there but good!!

well im glad i tested it out before actually adjusting the front sight, it appears that the front post is in a good position, my windage was bang on at 50 and 100 meters.. the elevation is all up the piss tho. when set at 100m it was hitting probably 12" low...

this could be me .. it was raining and at dusk, and the standard front post isnt the finest of aiming instruments :) im sure that i could tighten the groups up considerably with a piece of glass .. but the group was more than acceptable for a carbine. overall im happy with my new carbine.

Mine shoots about 4" to the right at 50 yards. I have the sight tool, but there's so much paint/grease/other wedged in around it that I can't get it to budge. Going to try soaking in WD40 to see if I can get it moving.

My lever SKS came with the front sight post looking grosley out of alignment... but it seems to shoot straight enough... I'm looking for a place to order the SKS sight adjustment tool from online, and will probably wait untill it arrives to fine tune it.
