So,

I would like to know if anyone here has ever removed the front sight block on their sks. I read up on it a bit and from the searching I have found that I may need to use a press in order punch out the pins that hold the assembly in place. No problem with that. Have a press. Have a shop torch handy as well. The problem is I would like to have the same length barrel as before without the bayonet lug. The whole point of removing the FSB is to get rid of the lug. Anyone ever heard of this or done it. Anyone know of a shop in Quebec or Ontario that could maybe fabricate the length of barrel that I would remove?

I removed the FSB from my chinese sks. I generally found the pins much easier to remove on the chinese models versus the Russian versrions.

The pins drifted out smoothly, the hard part was pounding off the base.

I heated it with a torch and went to town with a hammer and punch. It was a total pain in the butt. Good luck.

did mine and as said earlier use heat & a F.B.H ,I like the look a lot better now as well, cleaner. noticeable difference in accuracey but at the same time I went to choate mount & did a trigger job so it wasn't a fair comparison

Cleaner, and gives me something to do this winter. So removing is wont be a big pain. Guess only thing left will be to crown the new muzzle.
