SKS Gas piston cover removal.

Just did mine last night. Came out no problem. Make sure you're hitting the right side (the pin is tapered). Hit the small end of the pin and make sure the tube is well supported (in a vise or clamped down) and a couple of good sharp blows with a heavy hammer. Once the pin starts to move the rest is easy. The rest of the Tapco stock installation is easy peasy and mine fit like a charm with no modifications necessary except for the Tapco mag where I had to trim just a hair to get it working smoothly. A Dremel is your friend!
 
Try using a drill to remove just a small amount of material if it won't go, get rid of any bulge on the rivet. If the still wont work, get a bigger hammer.
 
Ended up going at it with a buddy one to hold the tube still on the work bench and him to HAMMER THE CHRIST OUT OF IT !

side note he hit my hand once... still sore lol... but got it on !
