Do you guys think train track tie plates would work?

Yep, mild steel. Great for 22 or pistol cartridges though.

Well I have a 12" gong that I made out of 5/8 stainless steel years ago. It has be one quite dished and full of holes and weld repairs as well as a new cgn member here keeps shooting the chain off it.

I am currently working on a tripod system for my new 10" gong made from A500 steel 2" thick. No more welding up holes for me heheh


I just about got ahold of a piece of 1 hardened wear plate but there was not much left after the cutting process. Would have been a blast.

Fine china! Ha. I used to do that then I got a job. Now I only shoot the finest silver tea sets with serving tray..

I found a old disk from a plow. Works great. I got a buddy who hauls scrap steel from farmers. If you live close to farm land try talking to the farmers they will usually give them away
