got a 53 tula chrome lined last summer, Love it to bits. After a while of getting used to iron sights, now i can take out clay pigeons at 100m. Forget mods i'm keeping mine as is, i was fortunate to get such a nice one and she's got a lot of character in that wood.

That looks very nice....Now I am sold and I will definitely be upgrading to the RPAL...LOL
finally someone gets it. its not such a great deal considering shipping and the ammo which (at the time of deal start) was priced $80 more than anywhere else (now ~$50 more)

Ah..ok.
I sent off an E mail this morning to check on the RPAL Safety Course dates in my area...If I had been thinking smarter I would have done the two courses together at the same time when I took my PAL.
I'm interested to know as well along with whether yuou had to modify it in any way.
Been wanting to do that for awhile.
I think the SKS is the most UNDERPRICED great rifle on the market today. How can you go wrong. And cheap to shoot. Its a Proven desighn, parts are eveywhere and the darn thing just keeps on shooting. Hands down, the best bang for your buck!

Pistol grip
The pistol grip is an AK grip I got from sksman. Didn't have to mod the grip, but had to cut away a bit of stock.

Because Russian quit building them 57 years ago, and we are not the only market for these old war horses.
Price is on the way up it seems. But even at $300 I think a Russian SKS is a great deal. Rugged, reliable, cheap ammo, simple disassembly/cleaning, nice stock.
I picked up a '55 Tula for $160 over a year ago and have been having a blast with it and some cheap surplus ammo. Thinking about a second actually.
