SKS HONOUR MATCH! Throwing down the gauntlet :)

Well I went out today with another CGN member from my tiny town. It was snowing heavily and we had to slog through 650m of knee deep snow to get to where we could shoot but we had fun, it was a great way to scratch the 'winter itch'.
We had my two SKS' and his 858, he plinked with my other SKS but didn't shoot for groups.
As far as groups I hesitate to even call them that, it was hard to see the target due to the snow and most groups were 7" or larger. I had one that was a hair under 4" and so I will put that in....nothing like setting the bar low to start ;)
Can't wait to get out when the weather gets better. Let's see some more entries
Cheers

The 'Range'

Combination of snow and lens fogging make the targets hard to see. The bottom row is clay cibles.

In the elements..no babying these guns

I wasn't trying too compete, i just went last Saturday to sight my Valmet with new scope and took SKS just to keep my kid busy. I didn't succeed with Valmet, it was too way off... So , i took SKS ant put my new POSP 6x24 scope and it took us about 6 targets - 5 rounds each, to heat up barrel and sight it. And than i just decided just to try to make some descent group. So, it was just one attempt and it wasn't so bad. 2 MOA. I know i can do better, but i want to submit this one for now.

P.S. The distance at Sharon gun club at range #3 is 100m to the backstop, so, i don't know what exact distance to target, but should be at least 96m. Is it qualify?

Ops, but it is not fair, i'm almost blind without scope. Why there is no second division for scopes?
P.S. Than I'll make my kid to beat you all! Haha!

I hear you, they're not great sights at the best of times. Glad to see someone made it out :)

OK just for Stue.....
We will also have a separete OPEN Category for everyone else, scopes, druganov stocks, peepsites etc. Just list (or take a pic) of your gun. It will be intersting to see just how ssmall we can get.

Cheers

Sounds like fun! I just purchased one from this site with a dragnov stock and what looks like a cheapy mil dot scope... dunno how it shoots cause I havn't recieved it yet. Can someone PM me with a good choice of amo to use? I know you can get mil surp for dirt cheap but I've heard some say its corrosive which to me = bad for life of the rifle.

and once I get it set, I'll be trying for 200yrds with any luck....

Corrosive ammo is not bad for the life of your rifle. Tons of people shoot it with zero ill effects. Just make sure you clean your rifle well after using it, and you will be fine. There are tons of threads on how to do this properly, and I believe a sticky on it.

Buy it.... shoot lots of it .... save lots of money, and have fun!!

Cheers!!
