With our stupid five round mag laws, your hands will wear out from reloading your SKS long before the barrel ever wears out. I think a couple of millenia from now, archeologists will be digging through some mound somewhere in Canada and uncover an SKS and it will still work (right along with a Lee Enfield .303).
