SKS / Hunting Ammo

I have and seen deer shot with federal soft points and partizan soft points and they all work just fine. I've never had any problems shooting soft points out of a SKS. Go for it!! Also, not sure of your laws where you are but wouldn't FMJ's be cheaper for you? It may get kind of pricey shooting ground hogs with soft points.

I have used partizan soft points with no problems what so ever in my SKS (never did get a deer this year though....maybe next year!).

Go Nuts!

S&B 125g soft points worked better in my SKS than Czech milsurp. I found the groups to be more consistent. Not bashing on the milsurp, I think that stuff's awesome, I'd hunt with it if it were all soft point.

FMJ is illegal in most provinces and alot of states for hunting. It's a little inhumane too (if shooting living things is humane to start with).

Dying from shock and trauma is much better then bleeding out. And alot quicker.

I wonder who ever decided millitary ammunition should be jacketed. (Looked it up The Hague Convention, no expanding bullets designed to aggravate injured soldiers or make their death inevitable)

I have put about 80 rounds of s&b 123 soft point out of my 1951 russian sks and if works fine.No feed problems and accuracy is good for hunting .

Wars are economic in nature, Shoot and kill a soldier and he just dies....shoot and wound a soldier and you just cost your enemy a sh!tload of time and money. IMO I believe that this is one of the main reasons that NATO switched from 7.62 to 5.56.
