SKS in 7.62X54R

SKS bolt is too short, and the reciever is not long enough.

Only way I can think of trying this mod would involve lenghing the reciever to allow the bolt to recoil far enough to feed the longer rounds. The you have to move the mag because of how it locks up, you could never fix it to feed the longer 54R rounds form below. You would have to mod it to feed from the side or at an angle, top wont work because of the gas piston.

So No

Finally, SKS mag wouldn't fit longer ammo...

Hey Woodsman! If you've shot the x54r buggers, then it's most likely one of the minimalist Globe modified SVT40's. Definitely not a .303 variant, or it would not chamber at all (I had this verified before I bought mine)

They were mostly Finn-captures which were sold to Globco in Quebec and chopped. The .303 conversions weren't only horrible for headspace, but they also didn't eject properly and jammed frequently. While yours is too modified to have any collector value, it'll likely pick up a little bit more than the Mohawk 555 .303 converted ones because it isn't as likely to have the chamber problems.

Mine sold last week for twice as much as I bought my unfired sks for...with three responses overnight. Little indication as to their value...

IMHO, lot purdier than the Mohawks 555's without the heat shield...
