The SKS will never look like an AK simply because of where the trigger group and mag well are located.

With Vz58's and T81's around, chopping down SKS's to build an "AK lookalike" is sort of pointless, especially since it's mission impossible. No matter how much time and effort you put, you'll always be limited to it's standard layout circa 1945.

I agree. I built a very similar one over 10 years ago, before we could get Vz58s and type 81s. Sold it as I couldn't get past how weird it looked with the huge space between the mag and the trigger. For an AK stand-in, a Vz or a Type81 are much more convincing. Or a Valmet

Yours is nicely done.... just doesn't look much like an AK.
