sks in QCB

Good video.

I like his technique. If you look closely, his left hand holds the gun by the magazine while shooting and loading.

Very smart because it allows him to hold the gun nice and balanced with his left hand while reloading with his right hand. A subtle but important difference from the normal shooting hold, with your left hand on the forend.

I need to try this.

Normal with russian Weapons. They're supposed to be handled by the strong hand, not with the weak hand as in the West. The safety, charging handle, etc is set up accordingly. If properly trained in this method, it is just as fast, it takes some practice, though.

I don't want to take anything away from the SKS operator, he really is very good, but comparing him to the slow reload of the AR operator behind him really isn't a true comparison...

You are comparing a near perfectly executed SKS reload to a slow and poorly executed AR reload. I love the SKS, but it still can't compare, on any level, to the modern AR. Flame away.

It can be compared, it is less accurate, less ergonomic, has half the legal capacity of rounds, is heavier, cheaper, and more difficult to scope:p See it can be compared to an AR.

I have actually shot a 3 gun match with a sks. It is reliable and accurate enough to hold the A-Zone at the engagement ranges that we had. There were no LAR mags at that time. The gun and I did fine. Not an ideal setup but it worked.
