I got a sks chinese

My problem is it jams I fired 11 rounds every one jamed so bad I had to hammer on the bolt to slide it back

When the bolt returns forward it has a space of allmost 1/4 inch this only happens when the magazine cover is closed

Should I take it in?

DO NOT FIRE THIS RIFLE AGAIN UNTILL IT CHECKED OUT!!!!
Yes I'm yelling. Some SKS's imported last year had a poorly designed mod that fitted a pinned in barrel to a screwed in reciever. Without first being repaired these are dangerous. Please get it checked by someone familier with this rifle.

did you clean this before you started to shoot it? Looks to me like there is still some grease on it?

and, you say the bolt is hard to OPEN? Not close?

and, is the op-rod sticking out a bit? I had trouble with one where the op-rod was catching in its movement and was stopping the bolt from closing properly.

triangle, some chinese, and the seriel#

Are there any numbers in the triangle?

Also yah the op rod could be the trouble.
Does the bolt and receiver serial numbers match?

When you load it, do you pull back on the cocking handle and release it or do you hang on to the handle ans ease the blt forward. If you are doing the latter, stop. Pull the handle back and let it go! From your photo, your rifle is not chambering properly. As above, did you say it was hard to pull open or to shut?

I believe he's saying he has to hammer the bolt handle to extract.

You've fired 11 rounds total, since new in this rifle, is that correct? I've seen hard extraction with lacquered steel cases, but never with only 11 rounds.

Have you checked the chamber for a stuck case?

Here's another thought. When the gas was turned down too much on my SVT, it would partially extract, but then close on a fired case. It was extremely hard to work the bolt to extract the fired case.

In an SKS that could mean an obstruction in the gas system or the piston/op rod is binding.

Good call!

I'm pretty sure any cosmoline left in there would cause problems after a few shots.

Also I'd check the "shorter" piston rod under the rear sight...careful to keep your finger on it as you take it out as it can shoot across the room. :D

New 11 rnd only it jams closed.
Yes did a strip and clean before fireing.
And I pull back and let go.
This only happens when the mag box is closed if open the bolt works fine.

Jams closed on an empty? Or on an unfired cartridge?

Did you strip the rifle COMPLETELY? If not, did you get the short operating rod located in the rear sight base out with its spring? Did you clean it AND its recess? did you lube it with a good lithium grease?
When you put the main recoil spring back in its hole in the bolt carrier, did you put the WAVY end inside? If not, do it NOW.
If yes to all, examine the mag feed lips closely; are there any drag or abrasion marks? Is that a fixed mag SKS? If a "D", can you try with another mag?

this is the same thing that happened to me ,for like 240rds . each one a failure to extract the spent case. it was like the case was jamed in the chamber,I would'nt go into details about my I.A.s[no hammer was used] .it was stuck fairly hard in there.
thinking this is more of an ammo issue ,as I tried some of buddies hungarian ammo and it was better, but by that time the action was getting a little grimy.
So,over lacquer case?
