SKS-KD. Customer Review

1. Bolt-shaved inferior lips, just like for MagWedge transformation
2. Cut the front piece of the trigger group (close to the mag release), just like for MagWedge transformation
3. Mag release-extended up and the lever extended down for the easier finger grip
4. Removed bayonete, but blued it
5. Blued the bolt
6. Blued the bolt carrier
7. Removed cleaning rod
8. Shaved a bit of the interior of the mag well
9. made the insert deeper to accommodate front lip of AK47 mag
10. installed ATI STrikeforce stock

Nice video commissar!
Thanks man

Here is the first shooting trial. Well overall-nice feeling. Mags are a bit stiff and some were ftf after first try, then after 2-3 tries-no problems at all.
going, hopefully next week again and see how they hold
The rifle was quite precise/ accurate at 25m even marked as "2" on the front sight, which means-not the best

Looks awesome and great videos. Just have one question which will really make me want another SKS if you say yes. Are there 10 round pistol mags for it?

Thanks man!

and the answer is- I couldn't find any yet-rumors are that AK47-style pistol will be available in Canada with 10rnd AK-47 handgun compatible mags in 7.62x39... but haven't seen it yet

this is the best readily available right now in Canada
The other available option is M14/305a Chinese version, which takes AK mags or
Type 81, which will require some work to fit AK mags as far as I understand and it is not available and nobody knows for sure when it will come

These are the only options in CANada, which take AK mags, that I am aware of

The other option is XCR 10 rounders + HiCal or Magwedge mag adapter for 150-200 bucks + moderate complexity filing/ milling work, but this is not AK47 mags! I strongly believe for SHTF, you should have AR-15 or something which takes AR-15 mags and something which takes AK47 mags-just in case, you know:)

Hey guys, maybe somebody knows the answer to this Q: are there AK47 handgun (and similar, like M92 Zastava etc)-compatible 10 round pistol mags already available in CANada?

here where ppl were discussing this, not sure re: recent development:

1. SKS-KD mag release is custom built by Kodiak defence and it is not interchangeable with original SKS mag releases
2. In order to make SKS-KD mag release more ergonomic, one has to add an adapter on an existing SKS-KD mag release.
3. CNC Warrior quick mar release was one of the options I tried and it miserably failed for both SKS-KD (which was expected) and for original Russian SKS. Matador arms is also very unresponsive to emails/ phone calls re: product details-bad marketing, for sure.
4. 7.62systems AK style mag release is OK for standard SKS (not SKS-KD), but need your TAPCO mags to be modified in the rear end; also the front piece from 7.62systems-is not functioning well at all-so not recommended
8. Conclusion: Don't buy CNC product, unless it is priced at less than 50CaD (40USD) and even then, there are so many moving parts, I would consider next:
https://spectreballistics.com/products/sks-push-lever-magazine-release 60+CaD
or
http://hical.ca/hical-sks-ultimate-mag-release/ for just 50CaD

Don't know how those two above are functioning yet, but those will be my next choices for a regular SKS, not SKS-KD

I asked around and could not find any info on the legality of 10 round AK pistol mags. Every answer I got was that there is no FRT number for an AK pistol in Canada (at this time).

thanks!
hopefully... soon.... then it will change the game for wr762/ type 81 etc

those 10rnd mags r not available in Canada as far as I know
Do you know when if they will come?

Those 10rnd ak mags in that thread are all that's available for us in Canada bud!!! Zip. sweet fa. Read it again
All I know about guns I've learnt from reading CGN and listening to the pro nutz on here.

why do I have to read it again, if it's pretty clear: there are no ak-compatible 10 round pistol mags available in CANADA
if you have opposite info why don't you share it here and stop sending people for endless CGNutz threads reading?

Second trip to the range.

Jamming/ FTF is slightly improved since.
One mag is always jamming and one is sporadically jamming.
The other two mags are OK

If it jams again on third trip-I will not recommend this rifle to anyone!

ATI Strikeforce SKS Stock, Generation 2.
Things to do to make it one of the best SKS tactical stocks:
1. Improve the trigger group latch access through the handle by changing the hole angle in the handle from 85 degrees to around 65 degrees. Make this hole larger to fit cleaning rod. Make sure whatever tool you'll be using to press on the latch on the trigger group is functioning well, before you proceed to step #2
2. Glue the handle to the rest of the stock. The screw holding the handle is ridiculous piece of sh.... Do this before you go to the range for the first time
3. Change the location of the sling screw to the left or right from the cover and not by the center of the stock behind the cover
4. If you'd like to add a bayonet, then add epoxy to the interior front part of the stock, then file extra material from outside and sacrifice one small picatinny rail

Advantages of this stock:
1. good quality plastic
2. folding stock, unlike Tapco/ Archangel
3. accommodates bayonet, unlike Archangel
4. handle closer to the trigger group, unlike Archangel
5. do not need to remove the handle to disassemble the rifle completely, unlike Tapco
6. do need to disassemble the rifle completely to get the bolt and bolt carrier out, unlike Archangel
7. doesn't have stupid gas tube cover picatinny rail, unlike Tapco
8. doesn't cost 200+ $, unlike Archangel. Costs only 150 CaD
