Sks length of pull

Both will work. I suffer with the short LOP because I like having my cleaning kit in the butt stock if needed. Recoil is a non issue so keeping your thumb beside the wrist instead of wrapped eliminates the teary eye syndrome.

I'm 6'1 and actually prefer the SKS short LOP.
I don't like having to fully extend and support my left arm in order to hold the foreshock. (increased distance from butt to trigger results in increased distance you have to reach to hold the forestock) That gets tiring and uncomfortable after a few hundred rounds I've found.
I prefer having the rifle tucked in closer for better support, comfort and thus improved accuracy when shooting while standing.

I'm 5'10" with average to longer arms and also prefer the shorter LOP. Actually I prefer shorter LOP on just about all rifles. The standard model for measuring LOP is not something I buy in to.

Yes. Personally, LOP is only crucial with pump shotguns...because too long of LOP will result in the shooter not being able to completely cycle the action when they turn 90 degrees with feet planted in order to acquire a target located to their immediate left or right.
Semis, levers and bolts are not affected by the above.

I asked the same question once and the best reply I got was to change my stance. Instead of standing sideways to the target , try bringing your right foot forward (if you shoot right handed) and stand facing the target. Give it a try, I'm 6'5" and it helped me with that tiny SKS lop.

^^^ This. I'm 5'10" and it worked perfectly. So simple, it was almost hard to believe.

Definite plus-one for the extensions sold by Mobular. I just put one on each of my SKS's and the increase in comfort is outstanding. Nice to be able to lean them up on the buttpad without slipping also. Best of all, they don't spoil the classic lines of the rifle! :)

This is a pretty bad idea if you ever shoot anything with recoil. Best to always practice with the same stance and standing facing the target square on will knock you about with a gun with decent recoil.

It has always amazed me why the SKS wasn't made full sized ,at least for 6' Europeans in a longer stock and the Chi-Com models in short......... Harold

Because they were designed for 5'6" Russian peasants wearing very heavy quilted coats designed for -40Deg temperatures. I think you will find a 12" LOP works very well for the people it was designed to be used by. My SVT40, SKS and Mosin all have pretty much the same length of pull.
