Just reaching out here , does anyone have any experience with any of the duckbilless mag adapters for the sks. there are a few offerings available and I would like peoples input , they seem to becoming more prevalent in Canada. also there are some nice aftermarket mag releases as well . I have a Tapco in my type 56 , what other options are available in Canada. cheers guys and gals

I love my tapco mags just not the big ugly duck bill on the front , and I want to be able to run mag pouches efectivily in tac drills or 3 gun comps. I liked the idea of the xcr adapter but the realease is on the wrong side for me and I dont want to break my grip to change mags. and at 200.00 plus modding my reciever does not appeal to me, I would sooner have more tapco mags and the ability to change them quick.

I looked at the posibility of the extended mag type release with the duckbilless adapter but it was not available in Canada and all the extended releases I still had to break my grip to use and felt cumbersome to me, then I came across the mk1 mag release system from ww w.sevensixtwosystems.com and watched the videos on their site and FB page and it looks good and dosent seem hard to install either and cost seems ok . so Im gonna bite the bullet and try it out in the comming weeks, we will see what happens lol .

I think that the sks is a great platform to build on i have 3 right now lol , I am also a prepper and survival instructor for borealis bushcraft ,so I am very picky about the kit i choose it needs not to fail and for me the sks is my go to rifle but like most things can be improved to be more user friendly and well lets face it there cheap and fun to mod lol, and yes I have a nice stock one for hunting lol.

The kit I am ordering gives you both the front spacer block so you can cut the duckbill off your mag, and the realease allows ambidextrous ak style mag changes . It basically turns your standard sks into a d model without having to use or find ak mags you just mod your existing tapco mags to work with their system from the looks of it, on their site they have the option to buy the parts seperate or as a kit so I would assume that they function independtly of one another some how. so perhaps spacer block and factory mag catch or release and normal un modded tapco mag , but im getting the kit I will post a review once i have run it through the paces.

Unlike the systems that use pistol magazines, this one is going to be limited to 5 rounds with modified Tapco rifle magazines.

you are right however for my needs this system gives me options I run a cz 858 right now and I like the platform and as much as I would like to own a sks d it would end up a safe queen just because the mags are harder to come by and I have heard that they sometimes have feeding issues. The reason I thing this is a good alternative is i already have like 6 mags for my sks all tapco so no extra coin spent there and there are no mods to the firearm going by the instalation video, and I really dont care about the extra five rounds gained with the xcr adapters besides that they look off with the lines of the rifle. The MK1 release looks like a beefed up sks d release and the mags look good and go with the lines of the gun better

Every time I post on EE for AK mags I have about 10 per day offered. Id prefer a D over tapco but for the price can't go wrong with the adapter.

this looks like a good option for 3 gun especially if your like me and don't have restricted and borrow your friends pistol for the match. and im not gonna be a hard core compeditor but i still like the fun matches that brandon puts on from time to time , but it will fill the tac carbine role for anyone wanting a cheaper alternative to a ar or xcr for events like this. sometimes being married with children really cuts into the fun funds lol.

not sure that would be possible without milling the reciever i looked i was thinking the same thing.

We will offer two versions of detachable mag adaptors for the SKS.

The G9 allows the use of 10 round pistol mags but requires extensive mods to the rifle.

The G3 allows the use of modified tapco mags (5 rounds) ... the advantage is that the duckbill is essentially removed making for a more convenient magazine and that extensive mods to the SKS receiver are not required.

Whats your price gonna be for the G3 adaptor ? are you in production of your extended release yet and whats cost ?

Extended mag release is ready to go ... first 50 units at an introductory price of $39.95 and then after they are gone I will bump the price up to $49.95 . I will try to get these on the website today ...

G3 adaptor may take a bit of time as we are still tinkering with the G9. Until we do the actual prototyping and testing I cannot give a definite price, however we plan to price these at a point attractive to the Canadian marketplace.
