SKS magazine capacity vs M1Garand?

Actually my first statement was that I thought mag restrictions were dumb and that I had been trying to make sense of them for years but couldn't. My second train of thought was trying to find a way to rationalize with the public. Perhaps despite their Mis-conceptions we might find a happy middle ground. I certainly wasn't expecting the reaction I got but I'm new to the board so... lesson learned I guess.

Compromise leaves both sides angry. You said yourself your only justification for "approving" drum mag limits for everyone is an emotional response to a mental image. Well maybe you need to pull up your big-boy underwear and not lump gun owners in with criminals. If I want to shoot my 10/22 with a 100+rd drum mag I most certainly will with or without your approval.

Right now it's just our side that is angry because the anti's outnumber us. Id like to see that change for the better but with a reluctant public it seems unlikely. Ill take some change over no change any day.

Ill go commando any time I want. You or the government have no right to tell me otherwise. At what point did I lump gun owners (me) with criminals?

What on earth does that have to do with anything? Have a 500 round drum for all I care, It's legal and sounds like fun. Might be a tad heavy tho.

Don't take this the wrong way but there are no middle ground stances with gun rights.

We the law abiding should be free to own and shoot whatever we desire

They the law breaking should be swiftly and harshly dealt with.

Pretty simple to me.

I don't break the law. If I want(need) a 100 round drum for my VZ58 why should the government have any right to tell me no.

Stop looking for common sense with our gun laws. Accept them or stand up and fight with us that strive to see our rights restored.

I agree with you wholeheartedly! Our current gun laws are written like a game of Monopoly. Law abiding gun owners are the most scrutinized group in this country(besides known terrorists)yet because of a paper crime they will often land on go to jail. On the other hand criminals with no respect for the law often get the get out of jail free card.

How about with the new hype of the "Common Sense Firearms Law" it would go more like this. Law abiding Citizens of Canada can own any firearm with what ever magazine capacity that they choose and discharge it anywhere that it is safe to do so.Criminals that use a weapon (firearm, knife, tire iron, rock, etc, etc, etc.)to commit a criminal offence get dealt with to the harshest extreme of the law.Criminals that take a life in the commission of a offence get the death penalty.

Draconian to the Liberal Gun grabbers that seek to take the guns from Law-abiding citizens but would that not make our country safer?

Thank you and I am with you.

Statistically speaking states that loosen gun laws see a direct reduction in crime.

We as people that seek to obey the law should be shown far more grace and leniency than criminals using firearms in the commission of a crime.
