SKS magazine frankenpin fell out, what do I do now?

I tried two ways. First was a 1 1/4" bolt with a washer and 3 nuts then an acorn nut on top to make it look fancy and to take up the rest of the space.
I didn't like the bolt head sticking out because I sometimes put my palm on the magazine when shooting.

My next attempt was to drill out the old pin and riveting it. Much better way, then I gave it a shot of black spray paint and it looks almost as hideous as the original.

I bet it would have been fun to load 10 at once though.

We all know what I want to do(nothing:D) but what is everyone doing to re-pin there mags?

Yell reload after 5 rounds and wait half a second? :p

I'd take the bolt out of the rifle and keep the bolt at home, while taking the remainder of the rifle in to your nearest/best gunsmith to be fixed ASAP.

I can weld so I'd weld the thing back in....but if you can't, destroy it before you get caught with it...I know it's a very small chance that you will...but personally I wouldn't risk it....

That seems a bit extreme. I just took the magazine out of the gun until I could come up with a solution.
Nothing illegal about a gun that holds no rounds.

Wheeew what a relief. I didn't know if I was gonna any sleep knowing someone was running around with an full capacity mag. I thought for sure i'd wake up to it pointed a my nuts if I dared close my eyes. The funny thing is there is some ninnies on here that would report him and mabey even did. Those ninnies should be tied down ass up in a corral with a juiced up stallion, and any yellow bellied LEO that would actually charge the guy with the broken mag would deserve to be tied up with his mouth pried open in the company of said horse. Oh Canada......

Can somebody post a photo of plug detached from the mag? Does it break and roll around on the inside of the mag, or does it simply fall through the bottom of the mag?

PROHIBITED DEVICES
3. (1) Any cartridge magazine
(a) that is capable of containing more than five cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in
(i) a semi-automatic handgun that is not commonly available in Canada,
(ii) a semi-automatic firearm other than a semi-automatic handgun,

Since that magazine was designed for a semi-auto rifle and can hold more than 5 rounds it is a prohibited device. Whether or not it's actually attached to the rifle

well i had the same problem, my pin fell out and there was a big hole in the bottom of the mag, i just removed the mag held the pin in with a big vise grip and gas welded it, then ground it smooth and re painted it, it looks better then it did before i fixed it.

The weld breaks on the outside of the mag and the pin is loose on the inside of the mag. It will not fall out through the bottom.

Thanks. I just sent two of my best (most accurate) SKS's to Murdoc for the full monty, and I hope none of the welds break after the fact and mess-up the parkerized and armacoated finish. I'm not sure what percentage of frankenpin's break, but it appears to be a small percentage.

The welds always break, it is just a matter of time. I had a new refurb, gave the pin a wiggle with my thumb and it broke. My son fixed a few mags for me by filling in the hole left by the broken weld with his tig welder and refinished and then pinned the mag on the follower arm. With one of them he even restamped the serial number on the bottom, the font is real close to the original.

I am going to miss these posts when we toss the remaining Libtards out of power and reform these useless firearms laws...

Until then I guess all of us firearms owners should just wait quietly in our jail cells...
