Hi,
I reccently bought a new SKS and I'm having a little issue with it,

I would like to know if there is a way to soften the Sear spring to allow the magazine latch to be easier to pull. I have to pull really hard on the latch for the magazine to open. Its a russian from tula 1954.

Any idea on how to do it ? I tried to oil the spring and the metal part that touch when we press the latch but it didnt help.

I got lucky and it worked better on mine after a good clean and lube. Sorry I cannot help with your question but where did you get that diagram in your post?

Grease the rails on the sear and you can sand them lightly to smooth them out makes a huge difference.

Disclaimer, get a gunsmith if you don't feel comfortable etc because the sear is a fairly important part of the trigger. google youtube for sks trigger job. Polish your Sear will make a huge difference.

Whatever you do, do NOT change out that spring for a lighter one. It will cause your rifle to either a. Bump fire out of control B. Go under controlled burst (still, 100% illegal) or C. Could fire out of battery somehow and really hurt you. Just polish the rails and it should be a bit smoother. Also when your unlatching the mag loop your thumb through the trigger guard and use your index finger, this gives you a bit more leverage.

outoftowner & Gotrek are both right.
Take the sear & magazine latch and lightly sand both sides & in the rail, tell they are nice and smooth. But be carefull not to remove too much materail. Grease, then put back to gether.

take it apart again and reassemble it. Make sure the mag is all the way up in the hook for it up in the stock. Amazing how a little bit off will affect the trigger group and mag release.
