Not sure if this is the correct forum but anyway..
Recently purchased a norinco SKS from Milarm. It was greased and sealed in plastic. When i opened up the package and tried to load the magazine with a stripper clip the magazine would load 8 rounds! Is it supposed to come pinned to 5 from the distributor or is this something i have to do myself?

yes, wrong forum, the SKS forum is in the milsurp but dont worry the mod will probably move it.

it should only load 5 rounds , clean all the cosmo off the mag and mag well, make sure the mag is locked with the mag catch and if it still charge more than 5 rounds then return it.

one more thing i thought of, the limit pin (i heard the new models dont have pins) in the mag may be bent but still you should return it cos you bot it new.

I think you should try adjusting it yourself first. I had the same problem on a Yugo SKS. The magazine limiter was just a piece of metal bonded internally to the base of the magazine and just need the exertion of some pressure. ;)

Of course this type of thing just highlights the nonsense of the entire limited capacity magazine issue.

his isnt a yugo , previous chinese uses a stud pin to limit the mag but i heard newer ones has a limiter built in the follower spring guide .

gutinater: can you post a pic on the limiter ( if its isnt a stud at the bottom of mag ) ?

Recent Bell imports have the follower movement restricted by using a longer follower spring guide so it's out of sight. Much neater than than a rivet or the stud on the floor of the mag used by the Lever imports.
