so....i finally jumped onto the sks band wagon...
i have a question regarding the magazine.
as far as i know, all sks comes with the interal 5 rds mags right? however i also see other ppl's sks with 30 rds detachable mag. i am wondering what do i need to do to use that? what kinda of mods?

thanks!

Pull out your fixed mag.

Insert after market.

Done.

Just presses into place.

Rifle may also be an SKS-D. Which uses AK mags.

If youve got the standard hinged floorplate plugged to five rounds, then a duckbill mag is what you need. A few site sponsors have them, I like the steel ones myself, but tapco plastic are alot cheaper. As grove said theyre drop in. Pop your trigger group out, pull your floorplate mag out and replace trigger group, then with the bolt locked back insert duckbill mag and lock it in.

Just on the off chance you didn't realize, the aftermarket duckbill 30 round mags are pinned to 5 rounds just like your stock mag as per canadian law.

You want to clean the areas exposed to the burning gasses. The barrel, bolt head and gas tube.

I only clean mine the first time to get the cosmoline out then again when it gets dirty. I just give it a good spray with gun scrubber then oil with aerosol oil. For the most part I leave the barreled action in the stock, field strip, clean, oil and reassemble.
