Hi I picked up a 1949 refurb and noticed a small
stamp on the blade bayo that corresponds to the last receiver serial numbers. Has anybody noticed anything like this before? PS no photos yet. PB victim
Cheers

Thanks. Never seen a stamp on any bayo before so that’s interesting. It’s a 49
In a 50 stock with all the 49 attributes except spike bayo. The bayo collar is a square cut style

Electro-pencil, partial serilas show up from time to time on the at the base of the blade. IIRC, the ones I've seen have all been the last three digits of the serial number-- never seen a two-digit and never one that was stamped.

My guess would be that it's likely some sort proof stamp.

Also, nice looking carbine. Congrats.

Can you post photos of all of the stamped serial numbers?

There's another member (jstin) who' got a 1950 dated gun with the same EM serial prefix. There has been a lot of discussion and debate about his rifle, and your particular rifle may add some insight or useful info if we can see more photos of the parts, components and serial numbers.

Thanks,

Boris

Long time no see! Choate mount still working well!
The EM prefix seems to be on a lot of early transitional SKS. I don’t know if that’s a coincidence or not. Might be interesting to see if there’s a pattern regarding that EM prefix and the start for the change of the 1949 dated attributes.
