i took my sks to the range today
it was full, and there were people on the benches around me

the sks was ejecting the spent cases in all directions and at high speeds
i understand that people were getting annoyed around me so i had to use plywood boards and make kindof a house around me to contain the cases

what do you guys usually do when firing your sks with people around you?

My SKS ejects the cases to the front and slightly to the right, not the sides so its never a problem. I can rarely find my own cases on the floor.

I say too bad-I've had lots of empty brass bounce off of my head and shoulders. It's part of the peril/fun when shooting any semi automatic weapon. I just hope one doesn't go down the collar of my shirt....

It's always best to keep both eyes open so you can see brass flying from others guns. This is a simple peril of our sport, and wise shooters jump away from flying brass. If we were in the USA we might have to contend with Machine Gun brass flying hard at us.

Preferably an NFA/IDPA/glock or similar gun related hat. Pretty much everything I shoot throws brass all over the place. One of my tokarevs throws brass about 25 feet...and it is pretty durn loud a handgun too...always pisses off the fudds.

Mine kicks brass to the front and slightly right, about 20 feet downrange. Only time people ever gets hit is if the brass bounces off the range's roof or a support column or something like that.

mine throws them at just the right angle....to hit the rafters above and to the right of me, then bounce off and come right back onto me when I am shooting....
I try to get the furthest right range position if I can.
