interesting sks stuff.
so i picked up a Chinese SKS way back in the early 90's when they could be had for $80-90 from the surplus stores in Calgary.
i shot it for a month and grew tired of it and put it in the back of my gun safe.
years later i saw a nice long AK looking removable mag made of metal for the sks and picked it up, put it on my gun, never shot it, put it back in the safe, then 2 years ago a co-worker owed me a favor for helping him and he paid me back with a crate of SKS ammo.
so now i have a sks and 1100 rounds of ammo.
im really not much of a sks fella, but i do like the idea of having a cheap surplus gun laying around in case i need it.
thats my history when it comes to sks's.
fast forward to today.
another co-worker came over to help me run down a dead wire in the wall of my shop.
after we played at being contractors/electricians for a couple hours we sat around and had a nice chat.
he is just now getting into shooting and he picked up a sks off another local fella and a crate of ammo.
guy was clearing it out for cheap so my co-worker thought it would be a good starter rifle for him to learn on.
i asked him if he had shot it yet, he said no, he could not figure out how to site it.
i found this to be strange.
i asked him if it was missing its iron sites.
he said it must be because there was no way to 'site it'.
i asked him to send me some pics when he got home and i would send him a pic of mine and between the 2 we could see what was missing from his.
as soon as he sent me his it was obvious that the last owner had removed the rear ladder site.
i didnt know why a person would do that, but a quick google search showed me that when installing a Magwedge Kwik you needed to remove the read site.
so my poor co-worker has to either now buy a magwedge and install it or try to find a read site.
i thought id be a good fella and try to find one for him as he is really not much into guns yet.
so after this long sunday story what i was wondering is where would be a place i could order up a read site for a sks?
not looking to break the bank, just need some dingy old gun shop that someone knows has a some read sites for sale.
any recommendations would be good.
NO US STORES PLEASE!
with the recent changes to china and russian imports i dont wanna mess around with that.
thanks all for the time and help.
ill load up the pic he sent so you can all see it, im a visual person and im sure there are others that enjoy a peek.
