Guys, I want to add a good muzzle break to my Norc SKS. I see that Marstar sell the bolt on ones but I'm a bit wary of bullet strike if it comes loose etc. Anyone reccomend a solid muzzle break for a standard Norc SKS that I can get and how to fit it?

AFAIK there arent any good ones out there, just the usual NC Star, Leapers etc. The bores are large enough that you wont get any bullet strikes unless it comes loose, at which point the garbage disposes itself from your rifle. Fitting varies from brake to brake, some will slip on loosely while others will require minor clearancing that can be accomplished many ways. (dremel tool, rasp, even course sandpaper on a dowel) The long AKS-74 style is the best of the bunch performance wise, just be sure to use loctite and keep an eye on it while firing. The biggest PITA is removing and cleaning it each time as it is blued steel and will rust like a toyota if left uncleaned

You don't have to remove it to clean it. I pour boiling water on it or some Eds red to remove the corrosive residue. Then give it a nice spray in and out with some G96 or similar product.
I never thought of the cleaning problem after firing corrosive ammo.
I must ask why anyone needs a muzzle break on a gutless x39 sks rifle?.
I thought it would help with the recoil and elevation. Im new to firearms.. Is it even worth it apart frkm looks?

I bought one from ebay, a big, heavy one for like ten bucks shipped. Twist on and then two set screws. Works surprisingly well for recoil and muzzle jump, and I never take it off to clean. Never had a problem; stays very firmly in place. BTW, remember that muzzle breaks aren't space shuttles; NcStar and Leapers (etc...) are more than capable of making them.

I dont think they help much on the elevation part of youre ammo impact of bullets on target, the barrel alone does that. Best of luck!

I don't need one. Never said I did. I want one because it looks cool. What's wrong with that?
And I must now ask, what does "gutless" even mean when used in the context of ammunition?
Does "gutless" mean the amount of physical discomfort I should endure from the recoil before feeling satisfied that my gun has a bigger bang than the next guy?
