SKS Newbie, and loving it !

I only have one and doubt I'll get another one (also have a vz58 and AR15). It's pretty outdated compared to the other two but for the price it's a good deal. Main reason I haven't sold it is because for what I'd get for it it's just not worth it lol.
 
I'm not exactly sure on the year of it yet (haven't spent alot of time on that yet, but i am curious), whats the easiest wasy ?....i "think" it's a Tula and all serial numbers match...there is an "A" (which isn't a real "A" i don't think, just a symbol) after the serial number

Just bought my first yesterday 225.00 for and 235.00 for crate of ammo ,awesome.Now where to to find some 5/30 steel mags?
 
I dont have one yet....not sure why. I have several other milsurps. I'm probably making the mistake that they will always be around at these prices. Same as I did with the many $100 longbranch's years ago. :( didn't get one of those either! Grrr

It's a "letter series" 55/56...not sure about rarity, but i'm certain those are collectable, nice find. I don't know much about what the letters mean, there are avid collectors here that should be able to fill you in, though i've been brushing up on my knowledge out of curiosity, i still buy cheap old refurbs :)

In a momnent of stupid I sold my Colt AR15/HBAR sporter the day before the Shiet hit the fan. so in Jan I picked up a new russian SKS. still waiting for my crate of ammo. cant wait to shoot it.

yeah, weird...i just bought one like i said last week...it's weird that they don't show "out of stock" they are just gone, maybe they're not getting any more...originally i wanted the metal 5/20 cause it's shorter and had less curve, but i couldn't find them anywhere...i don't think polymer mags look good with metal and hardwood...
 
I talked to wolverine sol on tapco and 5/30's no eta dates out of states.Time to hunt for some tapcos,atleast you can still find ammo for the hunting rifles.
